LMA Listserv Rules
The LMA Listserv is a forum for sharing conversations and ideas with members of the Legal Marketing Association from around the world and is a benefit of your membership. As a member of LMA, you are automatically eligible to participate in the LMA Listserv. If you would like to sign up for the Listserv, please e-mail lma-hq@tcag.com.
- All e-mails sent to the LMA Listserv should be related to law firm marketing or the legal industry only. The LMA Listserv is intended to be a high-level discussion forum. The LMA Listserv is not the proper forum for jokes, political discussions, etc.
- The content available on the Listserv may be displayed, reformatted and printed for personal, non-commercial use only. As a participant, you agree not to reproduce, retransmit, re-post, distribute, sell, publish, broadcast, create derivative works from, perform, or in any way commercially exploit any of the content, or infringe upon trademarks or service marks displayed or received through the Listserv, including but not limited to others in the same company or organization, without the Legal Marketing Association's express prior written consent. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that it owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the posting party grants LMA the non-exclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print and use such information or other material.
- Do not send messages that are unlawful, harassing, libelous, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, tortious or otherwise objectionable. Doing so will result in the removal of messages and/or termination of your participation in the Listserv.
- A message must not contain profanity, be obnoxious or offensive, be a personal attack or an attack against a group of “like-minded” posters.
- A message must not be a blatant solicitation.
- The promotion of your business or services is forbidden on the Listserv. Any offenders will be subject to termination from the Listserv. For information about advertising in Strategies or for details on paid sponsorships, please contact Brett Wangman, Director of Sales, at 847-657-6717 or brettw@tcag.com.
- Members of LMA who are service-providers (including consultants) are limited as to how they can contact a member who posts a recommendation inquiry on the Listserv. Service-provider members are allowed to send one introductory e-mail that details their services. This e-mail should be sent only to the person who posted the inquiry, not to the entire Listserv, and should only be sent once.
- When sending messages to the entire Listserv, please use the following format within the subject line of the e-mail:
Subject: "Topic of E-mail – Your Name"
An example would be "Branding-Jane Doe." Because messages come from the LMA Listserv e-mail address (to filter the "Out of Office" replies), this is necessary so members can quickly identify who the message is from and whether they would like to delete messages they are not interested in reading.
- You must include your name, firm or company and e-mail address in all postings sent to the LMA Listserv. If this information is not included, you will be contacted offline by the Listserv manager who will ask you to include the information before posting it to the LMA Listserv. Continued failure to comply may result in suspension of Listserv privileges.
- Do not send personal messages to the entire Listserv. To send a message to all Listserv members, press "REPLY" or copy and paste the Listserv e-mail address in the "TO" line of a new e-mail. To send a private message to an individual, select "FORWARD" and type the individual's e-mail address in the "TO" line.
- Do not post job openings and resumes on the Listserv. If you would like to promote a job opening, contact LMA Headquarters at 847-657-6717 or lma-hq@tcag.com for information on the online Job Bank at http://www.legalmarketing.org/pages/career/
job_bank/index.html.
- If you are going to be out of the office for an extended time period, please visit the "Instructions" section of the LMA Listserv Web site to log-in and temporarily suspend delivery of messages. DO NOT set up an automatic message reply.
- Do not send attached documents, photographs or other files through the LMA Listserv. Instead, please have your item posted onto the LMA Resource Center. Once posted, the location of file within the resource center can be provided with your listserv message. Please contact Dan Lobring, marketing coordinator, for submission request form at danl@tcag.com.
- Notice of Violations and Penalties: At the first occurrence of a violation of the LMA Listserv rules, the offending party will be issued an e-mail warning and informed of the infraction. In the event of a second violation, the member will be notified in writing and suspended from the Listserv for 30 days. The Listserv member will be reinstated upon receipt of a signed acknowledgement of the Listserv rules. A third infraction will result in termination from the Listserv.
- LMA members who are not current with their dues will lose access to the Listserv.
- The Legal Marketing Association assumes no responsibility for the accuracy, currency, completeness or usefulness of information in any materials on the listserv, nor do we endorse any opinions or recommendations, and will be held harmless for information posted by members.
- If you have questions or comments about the listserv, please contact lma-hq@tcag.com or at (847) 657-6717.
